New labeling requirement: UFI code

We would like to inform you about the upcoming changes for GLUETEC Private Label customers. Due to the new legal requirements of UFI product labeling, new obligations arise for the marketing of hazardous substances. Detailed information can be found at the following link:

All companies placing on the market chemical hazardous substance labeling products in the European Economic Area (EEA) must label their products with the Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) code, either directly on the product or on its label. This code (23 digits in total) is required as a unique recipe identifier for products that may pose health hazards or physical hazards. The purpose of the UFI Code is to provide the poison centers of all EU Member States with specific product information in the best possible way. It is generated electronically from the sales tax identification number of the distributor and the specific formulation number of the mixture, which can be found on the safety data sheet.

As a distributor of hazardous substances, you must provide your products and safety data sheets with your UFI code. If you enter these two numbers in ECHA's UFI Generator online tool ( you will receive the corresponding UFI.

Depending on the user group of the products, different time limits apply to the UFI marking:
• From 1st January 2020: Products that are made available to end users
• From 1st January 2021: Products for professional use
• From 1st January 2024: Products for industrial purposes

Accordingly, it is necessary in the medium term to adapt your labels. We are currently working on attractive solutions to make the UFI labeling as easy as possible. We will inform all private label customers soon about our new service packages.
