Rennschmiede Pforzheim

Rennschmiede Pforzheim is the Formula Student team of Pforzheim University. With the RSP26 Aquamarine, the team is developing its thirteenth race car, the ninth vehicle in the gemstone saga, and the sixth electric car. In the 2026 season, the car is set to compete at FS Czech, FS Austria, FS Germany, and FS France.

Application on the rear wing

The focus of the application was the main element of the rear wing. Several lightweight components were permanently bonded together there: components made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, or CFRP for short, including ribs designed in sandwich construction with core material between the fiber layers, as well as PETG screw-mount geometries at the ends of the element. An epoxy matrix was used for the CFRP components.

Requirements for modern structural bonding

The application clearly shows what matters in modern structural bonding in lightweight construction: different materials, demanding designs, and an aerodynamically relevant vehicle component whose bonded joints must primarily withstand shear, tensile, and compressive loads during use.

Puryx: Polyurea rethought

Puryx All 200-10 is a non-sag structural 1:1 two-component polyurea adhesive for industrial bonding applications. The adhesive offers a broad adhesion spectrum on metals, plastics, composites/GRP, wood, and mineral substrates. Its paste-like consistency enables precise application, even in vertical applications.

The special USP: Puryx All 200-10 combines the structural performance of MMA systems with the controlled reactivity and low exotherm of PU adhesives. The patent-pending technology is CMR-free, low-odor, and low-labeling. The GHS08 hazard pictogram is not required; according to the product information, no diisocyanate training under EU 2020/1149 is required either. This makes Puryx All 200-10 the pure alternative for applications where performance, HSE, compliance, and user acceptance all matter equally.
