Rennschmiede Pforzheim is the Formula Student team at Pforzheim University. With the RSP26 Aquamarine, the team is developing its thirteenth race car, the ninth vehicle in the “Gemstone Saga,” and its sixth electric car. In the 2026 season, the race car is set to compete in FS Czech, FS Austria, FS Germany, and FS France.
The focus of the application was on the main element of the rear wing. There, several lightweight components were permanently bonded together: parts made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), including the ribs constructed using a sandwich structure with core material between the fiber layers, as well as screw-on geometries made of PETG at the ends of the element. An epoxy matrix was used for the Carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components.
This application clearly illustrates what matters in modern structural bonding in lightweight construction: different materials, sophisticated construction methods, and an aerodynamically critical vehicle component whose bonded joints must primarily withstand shear, tensile, and compressive loads during operation.
Puryx ALL 200-10 is a non-sag, structural 1:1 two-component polyurea adhesive for industrial bonding. The adhesive offers a broad adhesion range on metals, plastics, composites/Glass-fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP), wood, and mineral substrates.
