Tensile elongation

Tensile elongation is an important mechanical property of materials and a crucial factor in assessing their suitability for specific applications. It is defined as the relative change in the length of a material under tension and indicates how much the material stretches when subjected to a tensile force.

Tensile elongation is usually expressed as a percentage and can be calculated by the ratio of the elongation of the material to the original length of the material. A material with a high tensile elongation can stretch a lot before breaking, while a material with a low tensile elongation is more brittle and breaks more easily.
