Corrosion

Corrosion is a natural process in which metals break down through chemical reactions with their surroundings. There are many different types of corrosion, including galvanic corrosion, crevice corrosion, pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It can cause deterioration of the metallic surface, potentially leading to structural damage or loss of function. Corrosion occurs in many applications, such as the construction industry, ship and aircraft manufacturing, automotive, and electronics. There are many methods to prevent corrosion, including the use of protective coatings, sacrificial anodes, alloys, and special plating processes.
