fixing time
In adhesive technology, the fixing time describes the time that an adhesive needs to fix 2 workpieces until a first small load is possible. When the fixing time is reached, fixings can be released and the workpieces can be taken to further process steps. This condition is often referred to as hand tight.
As a rule of thumb, it can be assumed that the fixation time is 3-4 times the open time.
External conditions such as temperature, humidity and pressure can affect fusing time. Epoxy adhesives for example, increasing the temperature by 10 °C to a doubling of the reaction speed.
