Initial adhesion
Initial adhesion is an important aspect in the use of adhesives. It refers to the initial adhesive force that an adhesive exerts on the surfaces to be joined once it has been applied. This force affects the strength of the bond and partly determines how well the two parts are joined.
It depends on various factors, such as the surface finish of the parts to be joined, the type of adhesive and the environmental conditions. Thorough cleaning of the surfaces and careful application of the adhesive can improve the initial adhesion.
It should be noted, however, that initial adhesion is not the only force that determines the strength of the bond. Ageing of the adhesive, stresses and environmental influences can also affect strength. Therefore, it is important to choose a suitable adhesive and work carefully to achieve a robust and long-lasting joint.
