Ageing

Adhesives are chemical substances used to bond surfaces together. While initially strong and reliable, they can lose strength and performance over time. This change in properties is known as ageing of adhesives.

Ageing of adhesives can be caused by a number of factors such as UV light, moisture and temperature. However, not all adhesives are equally susceptible to ageing. Some types of adhesives, such as UV-stabilised adhesives, are less susceptible. Epoxy adhesives, on the other hand, are more susceptible. To minimise the ageing of adhesives, it is important to store them properly before use and to ensure that they are used within their expiry date.
