Accelerator
The accelerator is a substance that increases the speed of a chemical reaction even when used in small amounts. With regard to chemically curing adhesives, the use of an accelerator means that the curing time is reduced. Colloquially it is also referred to as an activator, hardener or catalyst.
2-component adhesives are called accelerators. It is the component that increases the reaction speed in 2-component adhesives. It can be used to speed up reactions that are otherwise too slow for the reaction to take place in a reasonable time, or to direct the reactions under controlled conditions.
