thrust strength

Thrust strength is a material parameter that indicates how resistant a material is to shear forces (see Shear forces). Thrust strength is therefore an important factor in assessing the stability of adhesives, buildings and structures, as these are often subject to shear forces.

Thrust strength is usually expressed in Newtons per square metre (N/m²) or in Pascals (Pa). The level of thrust strength depends on many factors, such as the composition of the material, the type of load and the temperature. In practice, special shear tests are often carried out to determine the thrust strength of a material.

When selecting adhesives for construction projects, it is important to consider thrust strength to ensure that the adhesive will withstand the demands and provide adequate stability.
