post-crosslinking
Post-crosslinking is an important process in polymer chemistry, in which polymer structures that are already crosslinked are linked to one another by further chemical reactions. This usually occurs through the introduction of additional cross-links between the polymer chains, resulting in a change in the physical properties of the polymer.
Post-crosslinking can make polymers stronger and more resistant to chemical and thermal influences. This makes them ideal for applications in areas such as electronics, aerospace, medicine and automotive.
In terms of glue, it is a completion of an uncompleted curing process by activating additional chemical reactions.
For example, if a curing process cannot be fully completed at room temperature, the addition of heat can complete the solidification of parts of the molecule that have not yet reacted. Due to the higher temperature during curing/post-curing, the molecules have greater mobility and thus enable better crosslinking of the adhesive.
