contact adhesives

Contact adhesives are a special type of adhesives that are applied to both surfaces to be bonded and are bonded together after drying. Unlike other types of adhesives, no additional pressure is required to create a strong bond.

Contact adhesives are made from a combination of resins and solvents that have the ability to bond well to a wide variety of materials such as leather, wood, rubber and plastics. They are characterized by a fast curing time and high strength, especially when bonding materials with a large surface.

An important property of contact adhesives is their ability to form a permanent bond under high stress. They are also resistant to moisture, chemicals and heat and can therefore be used in a wide range of applications such as in the shoe and leather industries, in the manufacture of furniture and woodwork and in the bonding of sealing materials in the automotive industry.

Although contact adhesives offer a quick and convenient solution to many bonding applications, there are also some disadvantages. For example, they can be hazardous to health due to the solvents they contain and require good ventilation and protective clothing. In addition, they are often difficult to remove once applied.

Overall, contact adhesives are an important type of adhesive that are widely used in many industries and applications. Their fast cure time, high strength and versatility make them a preferred choice for many bonding needs, particularly when bonding high surface area materials.
